Initial wastewater samples with evidence of the B.1.351 variant of concern were collected from Albany, Oregon, during March 26–31, 2021, and the first case of B.1.351 infection in Linn County was reported on April 23, 2021 (specimen collection date of April 7, 2021); 18 additional cases were identified through May 15, 2021, including cases with earlier specimen collection dates.
