Detection of MERS-CoV viral loads in throat swabs and serum from African green monkeys (AGMs). A, B) Infectious MERS-CoV was titrated on Vero cells from throat swab samples (A) and serum samples (B) collected at indicated days after MERS-CoV aerosol exposure of AGMs. C) PRNT50 titers were assessed for AGM serum samples collected at 28 days postinfection. Plaque assays and PRNT50 assays were completed for each sample in triplicate. Differences between groups were evaluated by using 1-way analysis of variance (Tukey’s multiple comparison test; *p<0.05, **p<0.01, ***p<0.001).
